Bubble tea making a come back!

Well, I'm sure many of you will be surprised at this post's title. "What?! is bubble tea (commonly known as paopaocha) making a comeback? Well, sure looks that way to me!

With the introduction of proper branding for bubble tea, a simple commodity can be raised to a luxury drink brand image. Examples would be brands like Gong Cha and KOI. With branding that sensationalize the youthmosphere (youth society sphere), its no wonder the same product being sold at SweetTalk for $1.50 can end up being sold by GongCha at $3.50. both are normal and plain milk tea with pearls!

Are people willing to spend those kind of money?

Well, the answer is YES, sadly.

Look around, how many more people are flocking to the more expensive and supposedly more delicious drinking bubble tea stalls as compared to economical priced bubble tea? Is there really a difference in the quality that makes the price worthwhile? I don't think so! The ingredients in each cup is the same! Milk + tea + glutinous pearls. So why pay more for the same product?

Like products such as bags from luxury brands such as Prada and Chanel, you most probably end up paying 40% for the brand name instead for the actual product. Yes, those luxury brand products does seem to withstand the test of time. However, anyone who takes time and effort to perfect their skills could produce the exact same product at a much cheaper price using the same materials! So if you knew how much you're actually paying for the brand name instead of the product, would you still buy?

Again the answer is YES, unfortunately.

Why? Well, if everyone is carrying the same item, would you want to be carrying something different although you know the quality is the same? NO. We humans have an innate need to be accepted by society or people around us and that need drives us to conform to what's acceptable and what's not. With the effect of long term marketing and advertising of luxury brand products as being the best of fashion, it remains etched deep in our minds the status of how carrying these products could bring. Our need to be accepted results in our lost of individuality.

Many people often say they are unique and have an individual sense of style. However, if everyone rushes to buy the expensive bubble tea because others are doing so, where is your so called sense of individuality?

next time, choose the cheaper alternative and save yourself some money. So what if you're caught drinking a cheaper bubble tea instead of Gongcha or KOI? It tastes nice and prevents your pocket from burning a hole spending on drinks!
